We have moved in to our new house now! Everything went off without a hitch. However, for future reference I must remember that changing the orientation of the opening of the doors on the fridge-freezer is a highly unpleasant job. The removals guys were very quick and efficient, and the aerial people turned up at the same time to fit the new Sky dish. Managed to get most things unpacked yesterday (easier because half of it was already there, and we'd packed things fairly rationally). New bed delivered today, and new oven and hob hopefully next week...

Finally almost possibly ready to move house tomorrow. We have now reached the stage where boxes leave the old house, go to the new one, and return still containing things to the old place. Tools are especially bad for this; the Sky box managed it too, as the hoped-for satellite dish installation didn't happen because the builder had only just finished rebuilding the chimney yesterday. Instead they are going to install the dish on Moving Day.

Paul packed the amplifier yesterday, back into its huge box which we rescued from the loft. This morning he pointed out to me that he had forgotten to pack the power cable that goes with it, which was a bit irritating as he had thoroughly taped the box closed for the journey. Paul then mentioned that the power cable is permanently attached to the amp, and I noticed that it was dangling sadly out of one corner of the well-sealed box...

Siemens and DaimlerChrysler have unveiled a car with UMTS services and an "ingenious navigation system". Lots of Java and "a multiplayer game". Wow.

After quite some time dithering, I decided it would be healthier for me if I didn't join Montezuma's Chocolate Club. Instead I'm giving membership as a gift. I already have a small Monty stockpile at home, although it isn't as big as it used to be, and I think I shall have to top it up manually at some point.
